Caetop College London (CCL) is committed to creating a working and studying environment in which diversity and equality of opportunity are actively promoted and carried out.
CCL has a zero-tolerance policy on any kind of display of either discrimination, prejudice or bias displayed by either staff or students towards another person on the basis of race, culture, creed, religion, sex, disability or any other kind of intolerance of diversity.
The College both recognises and fully welcomes the educational and professional benefits of having a completely diverse community of all kinds of people either in terms of staff or students or members of the general public that may visit or liaise with the College.
On 1 October 2010, the Equality Act 2010 replaced all existing equality legislation such as the Race Relations Act, Disability Discrimination Act and Sex Discrimination Act. It has consolidated this legislation and also provides some changes that schools/colleges need to be aware of.
CCL strives to maintain an environment which both values and fully respects all types of diversity.

Policy Statement.

CCL fully adheres to all Equal Opportunity & Diversity legislation and fully adopts all its principles. CCL win implement its Equality and Diversity Policy in CCL accordance with current legislation and codes of practice including:

  • Sex Discrimination Act 1975
  • Race Relations Act 1976
  • Disability Discrimination Act 1995

CCL fully acknowledges that any kind of discrimination displayed in the work place is completely detriment to being able to maintain a happy environment in which staff and students feel comfortable to both work and study in.
The College policies are put in place on the understanding that discrimination and prejudice is very damaging to people who experience it and fully believe that allowing it to be condoned in any kind of way either in a work or study environment is completely detrimental to maintaining a successful business.
CCL’s professional structure is built on the fact that its ‘People’ either in terms of staff! Students/ contractors/ visitors are its foundation. This is why CCL is passionately committed to maintaining an Equal Opportunity Policy and actively challenges all forms of discrimination or prejudicial behaviour either from staff or students.

Scope of the Policy

This policy applies to all staff Students, candidates and visitors to CCL, together with those contracted to work for the company.

Aims of the Policy and under pinning principles

The aim of this policy is to ensure that in carrying out its activities, CCL will have due regard to:
Promoting equality of opportunity, across all the activities of the company.
Promoting good relations between peoples from diverse backgrounds.
Eliminating unlawful discrimination

This policy is guided by the following principles, that:
All staff, learners and visitors should enjoy a safe environment free from discrimination and harassment or bullying.
All employees should have equal CCL access to quality services that are made available by CCL and its partners
All employees should have equal CCL access to opportunities for personal, professional or academic development and career, progression and promotion opportunities.
All relevant stakeholders have the right to be consulted about CCL policy, procedures and practices and are
encouraged to contribute to the decision-making processes of the company.
5. Implementation of tile Policy
The successful implementation of all strands of this policy relies on the mainstreaming of equality and diversity issues within the strategic planning process. However, all employees of the college are responsible for the implementation of this policy, and it will be subjected to regular reviews and assessments.
6. Responsibility to Maintain this Policy
The Centre Coordinator is responsible for ensuring CCL meets its legal obligations in respect of legislation
relating to equal opportunities. They are also responsible for ensuring the strategic development, implementation and review of the Equality and Diversity Policy and progress on the implementation of corporate and area action plans. As well as ensuring that appropriate action is taken against individuals acting on behalf of CCL who do not act in CCL accordance with the policy. They will also ensure that procedures relating to staff recruitment, selection. Career development, discipline and grievance are carried out in CCL accordance with the Equality and Diversity Policy.
All Staff are responsible for:

  • To comply with this policy and to regard it as an integral feature of being employed by the college and that failure to comply with it would result in disciplinary action.
  • Ensuring staff are encouraged, supported and enabled to reach their full potential.
  • Identifying appropriate personal & professional development opportunities.
  • ⦁ Individual partnership companies are responsible for:
  • ⦁ Supporting and implementing all the aims of this policy;
  • romoting equality of opportunity;
  • ⦁ Contributing to an environment free of intimidation on the basis of any social differentiation and implementing procedures that incorporate diversity in all its forms.

 Breach of the Policy

CCL will take seriously any instances of non-adherence to the Equality and Diversity policy by staff or visitors.
Any instances of non-adherence will be investigated and where appropriate will be considered under the
relevant disciplinary policy for staff. With regard to any breach of the policy by customers/visitors, the company will take appropriate action in relation to the nature of the incident.

Monitoring and Review

CCL will seek to assess the impact of its policies on staff/candidates to ensure that real improvements are being made in tackling discrimination and promoting diversity.
